OREGON HIGHLIGHTS

Crater Lake
You haven’t really seen Oregon until you’ve visited the southwest corner of the state, Klamath Country. Crater Lake, located there, is widely known for its intense blue color and spectacular views. As the northern jewel of THE VOLCANIC LEGACY SCENIC BYWAY-All American Road, Crater Lake will stun you with its beauty, dramatic scenery and abundant wildlife. At an elevation of 6940 feet it has neither an inlet or an outlet, and a maximum depth of 1948 feet. It is the third deepest lake in the world.

Exterior of Crater Lake Lodge

The historic Crater Lake Lodge is worthy of its grand surroundings. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it was built in 1915. After a massive renovation it reopened in 1995 and offers an atmosphere reminiscent if the 1920s. Visitors are immersed in its rustic charm.

Great Hall of Crater Lake Lodge
Crater Lake is the beginning of the Volcanic Legacy Scenic ByWay-All American Road which takes you on a beautiful ride south through sensational scenery to the Lava Beds National Monument. Stops along the way include Fort Klamath, Klamath Lake, Klamath Falls, The Bear Valley National Wildlife Refuge and Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge. Perhaps you will be the one to finally solve the mystery of the initials, the arrow, and the 1843 date carved on the Lady of the Woods, the petrified statue carved by Dr. Earl Russell Bush in 1917.

You can make a leisurely drive on this road in one day, stopping along the way to see the sights and perhaps enjoying lunch at Crater Lake Lodge.
