Hi Fellow Travelers: I’m late with this month’s issue of TRAVELSAVVYNEWS as I just got back from spending a week in Oklahoma City and environs. A fabulous City. What you might think of as a Cow Town, is extremely cultured! Extraordinary museums,restaurants, history, architecture and art. All served up with Oklahoma hospitality.It was grand trip, the historic Skirvin Hotel a perfect place to stay, and all the Southwest Airlines flights on time and comfortable. You will be hearing more about this trip in future issues.

But for now, take time to peruse the current issue. a very good story by Barbara Barton Sloane on her recent visit to Kauai can be found in the ONLY IN AMERICA section, while Corinne Brown gives you a suggested list of historic hotels in the Rockies in the ACROSS THE COUNTRY page that makes you want to pack up and go NOW! Note the suggested trip to Klamath Country in OREGON HIGHLIGHTS, and the wild and wooly adventure to Pendleton, OR during Round-Up week this September in the FEATURED DESTINATION section. Don’t miss the PLUGGED IN section either. Some very good tips picked up at the NATJA (North American Travel Journalists) conference I just got back from, are included.

The weak dollar, the gas crunch, and the soft economy all combine to make traveling in the USA preferable. With a little research you can find many bargains, even at top rated hotels and resorts.   Don’t overlook asking if any special deals are being offered.  Many are offering reduced rates. Wherever you go, whatever you do, travel safely, take pleasure in your circumstance, and  be a considerate traveler.
